Homeschool Outdoor Education Days

Homeschool Outdoor Education Days are an exciting opportunity for students 6 to 17 to explore God’s creation through hands-on, experiential learning in the outdoors.
Each day typically includes:

  • Two Creation Exploration sessions
  • Morning devotion
  • Take-home manual for each student
  • Lots of fun learning about God in the outdoors!

Each day runs from 9:00am to 3:30pm

Spring Outdoor Education Days


Theme Days

Our theme days for Spring are: Team STEM, Flight, and Splash. Each day will include:

• 2 Creation Exploration sessions
• Morning devotion
• A take-home manual for each student
• Fun times learning about God in the outdoors!

Children will be divided into groups based on age. Each age group will study different subjects.
Each day is designed for parents to learn alongside their children. While we do not require parents to attend, we like to have at least one adult chaperone with every class group of 10-15 students to support our instructors as needed. Please, no younger siblings under age 6 during the program.

Team STEM Day – April 16th or 17th

Students will have the chance to design, execute, and test projects and experiments that will help them learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Ages 6 – 8: Build, Destroy, Build & Simple Machines
Ages 9 – 11: Balloon Boats & Simple Machines
Ages 12 & up: Motor Boats & Towers

Flight Day – April 30th or May 1st

How do planes fly?  What is thrust?  Why do aerodynamics matter?  These are just some of the questions we will investigate.
Ages 6 – 8: Flight & Water Rockets
Ages 9 – 11: Flight & Archery
Ages 12 & up: Flight & Parachute Physics

Splash Day – May 14th or 15th

A day to study the Octoraro Creek that borders Black Rock Retreat and the impact that is has on our daily lives.
Ages 6 – 8: Creek Study & Aquatic Life
Ages 9 – 11: Creek Study & Watersheds
Ages 12 & up: Aboitic Creek Study & Biotic Creek Study

Field Day – May 22nd

All students will compete with area Homeschoolers in both traditional and non-traditional events. How fast can you run? How far can you throw a frisbee? How far can you kick your shoe?


Each day is $22 per student. $10/day non-refundable deposit due at time of registration.

Attend 3 days for $61, a savings of $5*

Attend 4 days for $78, a savings of $10*

*Pay the deposit for each day and the savings amount will be applied to your last registered day.

Lunch Information

Lunch for Homeschool Days will be held in either our Pavilion or indoors depending on the weather. Boxed lunches will be available to purchase* for those families not wishing to pack a lunch. For those families wishing to pack a lunch a cooler will be available at check-in to drop your student’s lunch off. Please label your student’s lunch clearly.

*Boxed lunches are $6 each and must be ordered 2 weeks in advance.

Parent Information

The day is designed for parents to learn alongside their children. While we do not require parents to attend, by attending as a chaperone you help us to keep costs low and continue offering great home school programs. This Spring we are offering a limited number of spots for parents to attend as chaperones at no program cost. No program cost parent spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
