Black Rock Retreat is excited to offer 8 weeks of high-energy, intentionally-programmed summer day camp in Lancaster County for campers entering 1st through 6th grade in the fall of 2024. Give your kids a summer experience they will not soon forget.

Every week at Blast Day Camp, campers will experience the natural world around them, grow in knowledge and skills, and connect with new friends. It’s fun, with no Wi-Fi required!

Why Blast Summer Day Camp in Lancaster, PA?

Give your kids an unforgettable summer experience at Black Rock Retreat! Ideally located in Lancaster County, PA, Blast Day Camp promises to help them connect with new friends and experience the natural world around them in a whole new way. Blast Day Camp is the perfect way to get your kids excited to be outside this summer with age-appropriate activities, daily swimming time, and more!

Our retreat center is conveniently located near Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, New York City, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. Only 30 min from Interstate 95, so your child can enjoy a secluded camping experience without having to go too far off the beaten path.

Blast Summer Day Camp Details

Blast Day Camp offers two age groups. Blast Day Camp Pioneers for campers entering 1st-3rd grade and Blast Day Camp Explorers for campers entering 4th-6th grade. Groups will have separate age-appropriate activities throughout the day and will be together for meals, swimming, and other large group games.

Sign up for as many weeks as you want!

Each week runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm with extended care available from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm (additional cost). Blast Day Camps provide a variety of different activities to experience depending on age group and year, as we want to create a ‘progression’ of activities, keeping the campers interested year after year. Your camper will have a BLAST!

10:30am: Activity 2
11:30am: Devotional Time

12:45pm: Swim Time (Pool, Lake, or Creek)

4:30-5:00pm: Pick-up
5:30-6:00pm: Late Pick-up (Additional cost)

We provide a three-tiered system to allow families to choose the price that best fits their financial situation. All campers receive the same experience regardless of what tier they pay, and all families are free to choose the option that works best for themWhy are there 3 prices?

5-Day Option (Monday-Friday) includes lunch and 2 snacks each day.

Can I sign up my child for summer camp online?

Can I sign my child up for more than one week of summer camp?

Yes! You may sign your camper up for as many weeks as you would like. Campers signed up for 5 or more weeks will receive a 2nd t-shirt, water bottle, and drawstring bag.

Can I sign my child up for part of a week of summer camp?

This year we are offering limited spots for campers to sign up for 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. When signing up, select the 3 Day (MWF) option when selecting the week of camp you want to attend.

Where do I drop-off/pick-up my child from summer camp?

Dropoff and pickup will both take place in the Nature Center at Black Rock Retreat, 1345 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville, PA (#26 on the map you can find here). Get Google Maps directions »

Does summer youth camp offer sponsorships?

For families looking for financial assistance, please check out our overnight Summer Camp program or check with your local church to see if they offer any sponsorship assistance.

Are sign ups eligible for refunds?

Any amount paid above the $100 non-refundable deposit is refundable up to 14 days prior to the registered week of Day Camp. No refunds will be given for cancellations within 14 days of the registered week of Blast Day Camp.

Does Blast Day Camp qualify as a Day Care Center for tax purposes?

Blast Day Camp is a camp program does not qualify to be claimed as tax-deductible child care.

Is there a policy regarding missed camp days due to illness?

If your child is sick we require them to be kept home for the day. If your child becomes sick during the day an authorized person will need to pick them up.

How do you train the counselors?

Counselors participate in training sessions prior to the first week of Day Camp. All counselors are certified in Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED for adults and children. All staff working directly with campers have background checks as required by Pennsylvania law.

What is the staff-to-camper ratio?

Our ideal staff ratio is 1 staff for 7 campers. This number is adjusted as needed by the needs of a particular activity or group.

Will there be lifeguards?

Yes! All swimming activities, and all aquatic fun your camper will get into this summer, take place under the supervision of Red Cross certified lifeguards.

Does camp close due to inclement weather?

When the weather does not permit us to be outdoors, the fun just moves to either a pavilion or an indoor space such as our Nature Center or Gym.

Where will campers receive meals?

Most meals will be served in one of our dining halls with an emphasis on providing balanced options. If your camper has any dietary allergies or restrictions please contact us.
