A memorable and meaningful summer overnight camp experience is right around the corner! Our summer programs operate various weeks from mid-June until mid-August for rising 2nd-12th graders!
Located on over 100 acres of beautiful woodland in southern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Black Rock has offered a quality co-ed Christian camp experience for over 70 years! Our motto and our passion is “To Know Christ and Make Him Known!”
Each of our summer staff members and programs are intentionally focused on helping our campers do just that each day of camp!

There’s no time for boredom!
We couldn’t possibly list all of the wide range of fun activities and outdoor adventures that you can choose from to fill each day during your week of fun at camp, but here are a few just to tease you:
2027 Summer Theme
We all know what it’s like to run from something—whether it’s a hard truth, a difficult calling, or God Himself. Jonah tried to run from God, only to find himself in the belly of a fish, at the end of his own plans and with nowhere left to turn. But even in the depths, God was still there. When Jonah had nowhere else to look, he discovered that salvation doesn’t come from ourselves, our efforts, or our ability to fix our mistakes. It comes from God alone. No matter how far we run, His grace can reach us, and our story is never beyond His redemption.

This summer, through worship, teaching, community, and unforgettable camp moments, students will be challenged to surrender their own plans, respond to God’s call, and discover that His way is always better than running our own.
This summer, we’re learning that salvation belongs to the Lord—and our story is in His hands.

If you’re around 14-17 years old and are looking for a fun, service-based opportunity centered around spiritual growth, apply for a 2-week session in our SURGE program! If you’ve been in our Overnight Camp program for some time, you’ll know that SURGE runs alongside Overnight and approaches it from a much more service-centric and discipleship-focused perspective.
If you’re looking to be on the summer staff team someday, SURGE is the next best thing as it allows you a unique perspective intentionally designed to be on the borderline between the camper experience and the summer staffer experience. Find out more!
Lodging
Also known as a “sleep-away camp,” campers sleep in dormitory-style cabin facilities, each with its own bathroom/s. To find out more about summer camp lodging, click here.
Meals
Three hearty, balanced meals are served each day, including two family-style meals served in the air-conditioned dining hall and one outdoor picnic for either lunch or supper.
Dietary restrictions (and medication, allergies, etc.) are asked for when you sign up, so you have nothing to worry about! However, feel free to contact our registrar for any questions!
Schedule
A sample daily schedule might look like this:
- Cabin clean-up time
- Breakfast
- Morning devotions with cabin
- 2 activity classes (with a spiritual tie-in)
- Lunch
- FOB (rest time)
- Free Time (many activity options each day)
- Dinner
- Evening activity (usually more active, all-camp games)
- Snack Shop
- Vespers (evening worship/message from staff/speaker)
- Night activity (once or twice a week)
- Lights out

The summer staff are the backbone to the ministry at Black Rock over the summer. We hire a team of fun, high energy, Christian leaders to share the Gospel with kids every summer and grow in their relationship with Him. We hire staff from the age of 16 and up, but most of staff are current college students.
