BR2RB Bike-a-thon – New Rider Information
September 11-12, 2020
Black Rock Retreat is currently planning the 2020 BR2RB Event. As we navigate the impact of COVID 19 we will continue to pay close attention to the CDC and local government regulations in order to provide the safest event for all riders and volunteers. We will also be making every effort to offer the quality experience that our riders have come to expect each year.
Ride and Raise Money for Black Rock Retreat
The BR2RB 145 or 125 mile Bike-a-Thon is a one-day ride starting from the grounds of Black Rock Retreat in Quarryville, PA and ending at Camp Arrowhead on the shores of Rehoboth Bay, DE! The route travels through some rolling terrain in Southern PA and into Maryland. The route then flattens out in Delaware and remains that way until the end of the ride. Most of the route in Delaware is a designated bike route which makes for an enjoyable ride. Riders proceed at their own pace, with the majority of riders finishing within nine hours or less.
50 or 80 or 100 Mile Riders
A bus will drop off riders 100 or 80 or 50 miles away (click on the distance to view route) from Rehoboth Bay and the riders will begin their journey from the drop off point that they choose. 50, 80, and 100 mile riders will also have rest stops available to them and medical and repair support. They will also join the 125 and 145 mile riders for the celebration dinner and have return transportation available.
With many participants riding at different levels we offer the option to take an earlier bus that will leave Camp Arrowhead between 3-4pm or a bus that will leave at 5:30pm on Friday and Saturday. The return bus ride takes approximately 2 1/2 hours.
All ride distances are fully supported with multiple rest stops, fully stocked with food and beverages. A roving bike mechanic is available for small repairs and a qualified first aid person will be available at all times. A sag vehicle will carry a duffle bag for each rider to the finish line and will also be available to pick up riders who encounter problems. Bathhouses with hot showers, a full course dinner meal and rider and bike transportation back to Black Rock Retreat will be available at the ride destination.
Register before July 10, 2020 and commit to raising $200 or more
and you will receive the new BR2RB jersey on the day of the ride!
All riders are encouraged to help raise funds for the ministry of Black Rock Retreat through inviting friends and family to financially support your distance challenge. Some donors pledge a per mile gift, while most make a flat donation.
