Home School Options

Outdoor Education is a great opportunity for home school students. Because the structure of our regular Outdoor Education program does not always seem feasible for home school families, we are offering several options for you and your family. If you are part of a co-op, your group can choose to participate in our one, two, or three day Outdoor Education programs. You must have a minimum of ten students per age group to receive our regular price rates for these programs. Whether you belong to a co-op or not, you can choose to come to a Home School Outdoor Education Day. These special days are held periodically throughout the fall, winter, and spring.

Home School Outdoor Education Day

This winter Black Rock Retreat will host an Outdoor Education day specifically for home school families with children ages six and over. Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 2, 2012, or Tuesday, February 7, 2012! From 9:00AM until 3:00PM our Outdoor Education Instructors will lead your children in discovery of God's creation. The day is full of hands-on activities and will include a morning devotion, two creation exploration class sessions, a take home manual and a hot lunch. Children will be divided into groups based on age.

The cost for one day is $19 per child and $10 per adult. The price includes all of the day's activities and a hot lunch. Families bringing three of more children will receive a $3 discount per child.

Thursday, February 2 or Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Creation Exploration Classes:

Winter Plants - During the winter season, the cold temperatures cause plants to take on a different look. Students will learn some survival techniques that plants use in the winter, as well as properties of snow and how it is helpful to the plants. Activities will include winter tree identification and snow experiments.

Winter Coats - God designed different strategies for animals to survive in the winter season. Students will discover the different ways that animals survive the
winter weather and will learn how life in a pond continues through the winter. They will learn about the different environmental conditions in the winter months and what animals do to adapt.

To register, download the form above and mail in the completed registration form along with a non-refundable deposit of $5 per participant. Registration deadline is January 19, 2012. Registration is limited, so be sure to register early! For more information or to register, contact Sarah Fedchak, our Outdoor Education Director, at (800)858-9299 or e-mail her at outdoor@blackrockretreat.com.
