Plan Now to Join Us Next Year: Sept 17-18th, 2010!
Here are some stories written by riders from 2009:
- I am the youth leader at Conowingo Baptist Church in
Conowingo, MD. I have been mountain
biking since 1996. This is my first year
on the road, and this was my first century.
I thought this ride was very well supported, and the route was great, I
am looking forward to next year!
- This year’s ride was my favorite because my sons road with
me. It was a good time for us.
- I always enjoyed riding.
I do not do as much as I would like.
Mostly I just do more before the Black Rock Retreat ride. I enjoy the fellowship and meeting new
people.
- My son-in-law rode with me this year. He only rode about 200 miles prior to the
ride. I was concerned but I discovered,
young legs and lungs are a good combination.
- My brother-in-law rode a few years ago. We wanted to ride one together so he
suggested this one. I don’t have a close
connection to Black Rock so I didn’t pursue sponsors but I will think about
this in 2010. I basically ride to work
on a bike and do this for my health and to reduce dependency on oil. The jerseys were WOW!!
- I was looking for a challenge, being a fitness rider, not a
racer. I was attracted by the fun, being
with friends and having the focus be on completing not being “first”. Since all my children have attended Black
Rock it was a good connection.
- I trimmed one hour off last year’s time.
- My friend encouraged me to try the ride. I’m a new rider and had never ridden more
than 75 miles. God and the two friends I
rode with pushed me hard! We finished by
2:45pm.
Now I’m excited to do it again,
next year. Thanks for a well organized,
fun ride. You folks do a great job.
- Everything was very well done! Riders felt taken care of by the Black Rock
staff.
- I used to run a lot – got hurt – took to the bike. Have been doing MS 150 rides since 1985 –
bought a tandem so I can ride with my wife, now I take the kids too. BR2RB
sounded like a great ride – obviously a great cause-so her I am writing my
rookie story. You all have it set up
perfect – don’t change anything!
- I started out mountain biking then got into road cycling
partly due to how much easier it is to go road cycling. You can just go out your front door and go
for an hour or two rather than making a day of it. I got into century routes this past summer,
and I enjoy the challenge of long distance, endurance rides.
- Bike jerseys given for early registrations are awesome –
great quality, color and design! Thank
you for the jersey! Bus driver on Friday
was great – friendly and fast.
- I like doing this ride annually because it gives me
incentive to train all year long.
