Winter Outdoor Education Program

/files/Pages Images/Outdoor Education/out_edu_winter.jpgLooking for a way to get outside of the classroom this winter and do some experiential learning? Black Rock Retreat offers a unique environment for such an experience. Spend the day with us and study how plants, animals, and humans survive the winter months of cold and snow. Is the snow helpful? What happens to the fish and organisms under the ice in ponds? Participate in hands-on activities such as tracking, tree identification, & experiments with snow and/or ice. Our indoor nature center houses turtles, iguanas, snakes, and several other animals, so even in the midst of winter, students will be able to see and touch animals.

A typical one-day program runs from 9:00-3:00 but times can be adjusted. The three-day program includes four, one and one-half hour Creation Exploration class sessions, morning and evening all-camp devotions, a night time Creation Exploration session, and camp games. Outdoor Education is beneficial for school groups and home school co-ops with students in grades 3-8.
